Boiler repairs, here's how it works

Discovering you have no heating or hot water is a real pain. Luckily, boiler repairs and replacements are often straightforward. We respond to boiler breakdowns throughout Bradford, Leeds and the rest of Yorkshire, plus into Lancashire. Here is how it typically works.

An engineer carrying out a boiler repair

What they check

On arrival, your engineer asks a couple of questions, then checks:

  • Safety of the boiler
  • Obvious faults and blockages
  • Full operational assessment

They check for obvious faults such as blockages in the flue or condensate pipe, confirm the boiler is safe and to current regulations, then assess the heating and hot water to identify where the fault lies.

What they are looking for

A boiler goes through stages before it starts up. Diagnosing a repair involves finding which stage it is failing at. Sometimes there are visible signs, other times further tests are needed to identify the malfunction.

Typical issues

Various parts can fail over time, especially mechanical ones. Common faults occur in the:

  • Fan
  • Sensors
  • Diverter valve
  • Pump
  • Circuit board

How easily can these be fixed?

Our engineers keep common parts on their vans, so they can be swapped within an hour of the faulty part being identified. If they do not have the part, in most cases they can collect it from a local supplier and return the same day.

What if the boiler is not repairable?

If the problem is not repairable, your engineer will talk to you about arranging a replacement boiler as soon as possible, often providing a quotation and possible dates there and then. For a more complex replacement, they may arrange for a heating surveyor to visit. Once booked, we can have the new boiler installed within 48 hours.
