The Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant is £7,500 right now and rises to £9,000 for installations completed from July 2026. The EPC and insulation requirement was removed in April 2026, so eligibility is simpler than it was. We are MCS-certified, we run the whole Ofgem application for you, and the grant is deducted straight from your invoice. You pay the net figure, not the headline price then claim it back. Is a heat pump right for your home?

What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant?
A government grant towards an air source or ground source heat pump in England and Wales. It is £7,500 now and rises to £9,000 for installations completed from July 2026. Your MCS installer applies it as an upfront discount on the invoice.
Am I eligible for the heat pump grant?
If you own the home (or are a private landlord), it is an existing building, and you are replacing a fossil fuel system with a standalone heat pump. As of April 2026 you no longer need a valid EPC. Hybrid gas plus heat pump systems do not qualify.
How much does an air source heat pump cost after the grant?
It varies by property, but the grant is taken off the price before you pay, so your out-of-pocket cost is the install price minus £7,500 (£9,000 from July 2026). We quote the net figure clearly after a survey.
Are heat pumps worth it?
They suit a well insulated home and run on electricity instead of gas. With the grant the upfront cost is much lower. They are not right for every property, and we will tell you honestly if a boiler is the better fit for yours.
Do I need a new EPC for the grant?
No. The EPC requirement and the related insulation rule were removed in April 2026. Your MCS-certified installer handles the whole Ofgem application on your behalf, so there is no paperwork at your end.
