Central heating is more efficient to run than a gas fire. If you have adjustable radiators, it is better to turn the radiator temperature up in the room you are using and down in the others. This prevents wasting energy on unoccupied spaces while keeping you comfortable.

Gas fires do offer practical advantages day to day, as people often forget to adjust radiators and managing multiple rooms becomes tedious. While gas fires are not as efficient as modern central heating, they remain more economical than electric alternatives.
