BASI guide: keeping your boiler warranty valid
Originally published 25 January 2017. Prices have since changed - see our current boiler service page.
Your boiler warranty exists to reassure you that you will not face heating emergencies unexpectedly. BASI supplies boilers with either 10 or 5 year warranty coverage, depending on the model. Should your unit fail during the warranty period, you receive a replacement boiler. Maintaining validity requires meeting three conditions.
1. Keep hold of all your documentation
On installation you receive documentation and your Gas Safe registration certificate. Store these safely, as they may be requested if you need a replacement boiler.
2. Arrange an annual service
Maintaining the condition of your boiler is crucial to preserving your warranty, and an annual service is a stipulation of most warranties. Plan one around your installation anniversary. BASI customers receive service reminders automatically. At the time of writing a standard service cost £65 and took approximately two hours.
3. Don’t mess around with your system
Resist the urge to self-repair boiler problems. Only licensed, Gas Safe registered engineers should handle repairs, as improper intervention, no matter how minor, may invalidate your warranty.
Extending coverage
If your warranty expires, BASI’s Smart Care plans offer protection, helping you budget for future maintenance. For current pricing, see our boiler service page.
